Fans around the world will have plenty of Karate action to look forward to as the WKF competition calendar was announced on Friday. 

Fans around the world will have plenty of Karate action to look forward to in 2017 as the WKF competition calendar was announced on Friday. The many highlights of the thrilling year include five spectacular Karate 1- Premier League events, the anticipated World Junior & Cadet and U21 Championships, the debut of Karate 1 – Series A competitions, and the Karate showdown at the World Games, among many others. 

Next year’s WKF calendar will begin with one of the flagship tournaments of international Karate, the Karate 1-Premier League in Paris (France) from January 27-29. The spectacular tournaments in Rotterdam (Netherlands) from March 17-19, Dubai (UAE) from March 31 to April 2, Rabat (Morocco) from April 14-16 and Halle/Leipzig (Germany) from September 8-10 complete the list of events of the first-class league competition for 2017.

Following European Karate rising stars' gathering in Sofia (Bulgaria) from February 17-19 at the EKF Junior, Cadet & U21 Championships, May will then be marked as one of the most hectic and thrilling months of the year. Four top events will be celebrated in May: the 52nd EKF Senior Championships in Samsun (Turkey) from May 4-7; the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku (Azerbaijan) from May 13-14; the 16th Senior UFAK Championships in Yaoundé (Cameroon) from May 19-21, and the PKF Senior Championships in Curaçao from May 25-27. The 2017 senior continental tournaments will be wrapped up from June 16-18 with the 14th AKF Senior Championships to be held in Astana (Kazakhstan). 

In June Karate will showcase its impressive impact in society and among youngsters with two anticipated events: the WKF Karate Day in Munich (Germany) on June 17, and the big celebration of youth Karate in the 10th WKF Training Camp & Karate 1 Youth World Cup in Umag (Croatia). 

A new competition will be unveiled in June, as the Karate 1 –Series A will be inaugurated in Toledo (Spain) from June 17-19. The cities of Istanbul (Turkey) from September 23-24, Salzburg (Austria) from October 7-8 and Okinawa (Japan) from November 11-12 complete the list of venues of this new format. 

Karate will also have the opportunity to demonstrate its magnificence in the World Games to be held in Wroclaw (Poland) where this ancient discipline will showcase its brilliance from July 25-26. 

After the PKF Junior & Cadet Championships in Buenos Aires (Argentina) from August 24-26 and the Commonwealth Karate Championships in Durban (South Africa) from August 3 to September 3, one of the signature events of the year will take place in Tenerife (Spain) from October 26-29. The world’s best upcoming Karatekas will meet in the sensational World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships, where Karate’s bright future will be celebrated.
