A successful education campaign on anti-doping was conducted during the 2016 Karate World Championships held in Linz (Austria). The initiative was performed by the World Karate Federation in cooperation with the National Anti-Doping Organisation of Austria (NADA), which provided added value to the success of the outreach.

The campaign aimed at providing information on Anti-Doping issues to the athletes participating in Karate’s biggest event. Different educational tools were available for Karatekas to test their knowledge on Anti-Doping issues. Among these instruments, participants could take part in the World Anti-Doping Agency-WADA Play True Quiz. Over 200 athletes joined in the activity throughout the event, thus stating the interest that these actions arise among competitors.

The campaign in Linz represents the third occasion in which these outreaches are being implemented in Karate World Championships, either in Junior-Cadet or Senior events.
