The ceremony was attended by UAE Secretary-General of The General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare, Ibrahim Abdul Malik Mohammed, WKF Vice-President and UAE Karate Federation President Nasser Abdulrazaq Alrazooqi, and WKF President Antonio Espinós.

The 129th Session of the International Olympic Committee held in Rio de Janeiro decided to incorporate the sport of Karate in the programme of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in a ground-breaking moment for this ancient discipline.
