Following the first five thrilling tournaments of the season, the first-class international Karate competition returns to Africa for the Karate 1-Premier League in Rabat. Top Karatekas from four continents will compete for gold to continue showcasing their abilities in an anticipated event.   

Following the first five thrilling tournaments of the season, the first-class international Karate event returns to Africa for the Karate 1-Premier League in Rabat. Top Karatekas from four continents will compete for gold to continue showcasing their abilities in an anticipated competition.   

Morocco hosts a tournament of Karate 1-Premier League for the first time, and Karate fans in the region live with expectation the days ahead of the landmark event. The Multi Purpose Stadium Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat will stage two spectacular days of competition this weekend in the quest to dominate the different categories of the sport.

Karate Star Damian Quintero spearheads the representation of high class competitors clashing for gold in Rabat. After two gold medals in Karate 1-Premier League events this season and following his triumphant performance in the Karate European Championships, the Spanish ace will try to continue his outstanding performance in Male Kata this year, so to confirm his status of one of the biggest figures of the sport.

Meanwhile, Sandra Sanchez acts as one of the top karatekas in women’s competition. The Spanish Star has claimed gold in each one of her three appearances in international events this season, as the 34 years-old athlete topped the podiums in the Karate 1-Premier League tournaments in Dubai and Sharm El-Sheikh as well as in the European Championships, and will try to continue her domination in Female Kata.

The women’s categories also register the participation of top competitors such as Brazil’s Valeria Kumizaki, who aims at increasing the tally of gold medals this season after her victory in Karate 1-Premier League in Salzburg in Female Kumite -55 Kg, and Netherland’s Vanesca Tania Nortan, who travels to Rabat with her second gold medal of the season on her mind, following her brilliant performance in Karate 1-Premier League in Rotterdam in Female Kumite 68+ kg.

Karatekas from the host country present the largest representation with 144 athletes. Local heroes hope to repeat the successful performance in Karate 1-Premier League in Sharm El-Sheikh, since in the second event of the season Moroccan athletes reached the second position in the final standings with a total of five medals. The Male Team Kata formed by Bilal Benkacem, Mohammed  El Hanni and Adnane Elhakimi, and Achraf Ouchen in Male Kumite 84+ kg will try to use the home ground factor to duplicate the gold medals achieved in Sharm El-Sheikh.
