Over a thousand Karatekas from around the world are gathering this weekend in Hamburg (Germany) for the ninth event of the Karate 1-Premier League competition.  The first-class international Karate tournament to start in the German city on Friday presents a record-breaking number of participants in impressive demonstration of the impact of Karate worldwide.

The first-class international Karate tournament to start in the German city on Friday presents a record-breaking number of participants in impressive demonstration of the impact of Karate worldwide.

No less than 72 countries will be taking part in the Karate 1-Premier League in Hamburg this weekend. Among the 1164 athletes to fight for gold in Hamburg, the host country participates with the largest delegation, with 114 karatekas, while Italy and France are also widely represented in the event with 84 and 58 athletes, respectively.

With competitors arriving from countries like Canada, Chile, China, Japan, Nepal or New Zealand, among many others, the global impact of Karate is demonstrated in this event, as this ancient discipline is looking forward to showcasing its spectacular nature in the forthcoming 2016 Karate World Championships to be held in Linz (Austria) from October, 25-30.

The impressive tally of competitors to clash for glory in Hamburg establishes a new participation record in Karate 1-Premier League events this year thus overtaking the massive number of 1012 Karatekas that participated in the opening tournament of the season in Paris (France).

Since most of the first-class karatekas, world ranking leaders, and defending World and continental champions are competing for gold in Hamburg, the thrill and outstanding level of competition in the event is guaranteed. As the favourites to shine in the upcoming World Championships will present their abilities in the German city this weekend, local fans can expect a memorable quest for gold in Hamburg.
