Karate will take part of the 17th Asian Games this weekend, a continental multi-sport event hosted every four years by the Olympic Council of Asia. The Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, South Korea, represents 36 sports, about 13 000 athletes and officials, during 16 days (19th September – 4th October).

Karate will take part of the 17th Asian Games this weekend, a continental multi-sport event hosted every four years by the Olympic Council of Asia. The Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, South Korea, represents 36 sports, about 13 000 athletes and officials, during 16 days (19th September – 4th October). Recognized by the IOC, the Asian Games are one of the most important multi-sport events after the Olympic Games. Karate has been included in the programme already 20 years ago in 1994.

Karate competitions will be held at the Gyeyang Gymnasium from 2nd to 4th of October. A total of 196 athletes from 34 different countries will represent our sport in Incheon. Among them, some of WKF medallists and notable champions, such as Mahdi Aideh (Iran), Assadilov (Kazakhstan), Khalidov (Kazakhstan), Araga (Japan), Kobayashi (Japan), Someya (Japan) and Tang Ling Ling (China).
