Getting to know Karate Stars: Damian Quintero from no good for Karate to chase Olympic dream

The first time that Damian Quintero tried to start training Karate, at five years old, he was discouraged to take the sport for being “too small”. Now, some 27 years later, the Karate Star leads the World ranking in Kata, is the defending European champion and World Championships runner-up, and acts as main contender in the quest to the Olympic dream.

“As stubborn as I am, I went back at six years old, to the same gym and to the same teacher and he finally accepted me into the school and that is where I began my life in Karate,” said the Spaniard.

This tale of Damian Quintero’s initiation in the ancient modality is only a part of the new series that brings Karate fans around the world the opportunity to get to know Karate Stars.

The first episode of new series which premieres on WKF YouTube channel features the 2016 Grand Winner, who tells the story of his first steps in the sport, as well as the main principles that rule his passion for the ancient modality.

The Olympic quest is also included in this exceptional feature, as Quintero voices the hopes and dreams of thousands of Karate athletes around the world. “I am setting my mind on that dream that all of us karatekas have, to compete in the Olympics Tokyo 2020”, said the Spanish Karate hero.

Produced in outstanding quality by International Sports Broadcasting (ISB), the series will present all top Karate idols in a brand new feature of the Karate World Channel.
