Getting to know Karate Stars: Douglas Brose ?breathing Karate? and hoping to live the Olympic dream

Two-time World Champion Douglas Brose has one goal: to succeed in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The Brazilian Karate Star has the Olympic dream set on his mind, and imprinted on his body. Flaunting an Olympic rings tattoo on his leg, the current Pan American champion has devoted his life to Karate and is living first-hand the quest of the discipline to be included in the programme of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

“I think my biggest achievement until today is that I can say that somehow I contributed to making Karate an Olympic sport,” said Brose who was present at the IOC session in Rio de Janeiro that confirmed the inclusion of Karate in the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Douglas Brose speaks about the Olympic dream and about his life in Karate in a new episode of the “Getting to Know” series. The new installment of the series that brings Karate fans the chance to know more about the best Karatekas in the world features the 2014 and 2010 World Championships gold medallist, who tells the story of his strong bond with the ancient modality.

“I breathe Karate. I say that I train 24 hours a day as I am always thinking about Karate,” said the Brazilian hero, who started in the sport at seven years old because of his interest in martial arts movies.

“Karate is not only a sport, Karate is a martial art that teaches respect and discipline, and these are great things,” stated the second-placed at the World ranking of the Male Kumite -60kg category.

Produced in outstanding quality by International Sports Broadcasting (ISB), the “Getting to know” series features top Karate idols in short documentaries that give a personal perspective on some of the best heroes of the sport. The “Getting to Know” series is available to a worldwide viewing audience on KarateWorld.TV.  The first episode had Spain’s Damian Quintero as the protagonist and the second part of the series highlights Brazilian ace Douglas Brose.
