WKF President receives Japans Order of the Rising Sun

WKF President Antonio Espinós received the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star in Tokyo. The awarding ceremony took place Monday, November 26th at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Tokyo. Mr Espinós was recognised for his contribution to the progress and universality of Karate, a sport with strong connections with the Japanese culture and traditions.

The International Olympic Committee Executive Board member and Chairman of IOC Athletes' Entourage Commission, Sergey Bubka visited the 2018 Karate World Championships in Madrid. The WKF President Antonio Espinós welcomed Mr Bubka in the capital of Spain for the biggest event of the sport as meetings took place to strengthen the relationships between Karate’s international organisation and the Ukrainian legend of the sport.

After six thrilling days of Karate action, the historic edition of the tournament crowned the new kings and queens of the sport. The best karatekas in the world continued showing their outstanding abilities in Madrid as the 2018 Karate World Championships entered the fourth day of competition. The powerhouse nations of the sport took a stand today and dominated the Team Kumite competition. Iran and Turkey in male category and France and Japan in women’s competition will fight for gold in the category.
