The 49th European Seniors Karate Championships, that started Thursday in Tampere, Finland, ended off by a fight particularly disputed in male kumite team between Azerbaijan and Turkey. The suspense was sustained until the decisive 5th fight, after four fights of top-level and very high intensity (7-7, 0-8, 7-0, 3-6, 7-2).

Before that, both finals in kata team opposed Spain and Italy (like in individual kata categories). After two lost finals against Italy in both individual categories, Spain didn’t hesitate to take its revenge by winning the two team finals. Both nations confirmed their status of dominant European nations in this discipline.

In kumite, Turkey appeared as the dominant nation in this championship, one year before their own European Championship that will take place in Istanbul next March.
