AKF Executive Committee looks ahead of future of Karate in Asia

The Executive Committee of the Asian Karate Federation (AKF) met today in Amman (Jordan) to review new initiatives and innovative proposals to further develop the sport in the region.

The meeting was headed by WKF President Antonio Espinós and it was chaired by AKF President Kuang-Huei Chang. WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura was also present in the gatherings. The AKF Executive Committee focused on the progress on Karate in Asia; the managing body of the continental federation looked at submissions of the Commissions, in order to continue delivering a world-class experience for both the athletes and fans as the sport is heading to its Olympic debut in Buenos Aires 2018 and Tokyo 2020.

“We are making history in our sport. The continued growth of Karate around the world is evident in all stages and in all events such as the AKF Senior Championships. It is essential that we continue working together to make sure that we maximise all the opportunities ahead of us. We have heard a number of proposals today and, I am glad to attest that all the members of the AKF share our same determination to succeed,” said WKF President Antonio Espinós.

The AKF Executive Committee met in Amman as the capital city of Jordan is ready to host the 15th edition of the AKF Senior Championships to be held at the Prince Rashed Martial Arts Centre from July 13 to 15.
