The European Karate Federation (EKF) Executive Committee met Wednesday in Guadalajara (Spain) to make further commitment and support for the sport in its momentous times. While the Karate world is engaged in a global campaign to achieve the inclusion of the sport in the programme of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the governing body of the European Karate Federation pledged to strengthen the struggle in the continent.

The EKF Executive Committee talked in depth about the #Karate2024 campaign as well as new ways to ensure the success of the actions to be taken thereafter. Additionally, the EKF stakeholders analysed the current situation of the sport in Europe and highlighted the development of Karate in the continent as showcased in the growing participation and increasing popularity of major events in Europe.

The different commissions of the European Karate organisation presented their progress reports at the meeting which was held in Guadalajara on the eve of the 2019 EKF Karate Championships. The EKF Executive Committee also expressed condolences for the loss of WKF Executive Committee member Dieudonné Okombi who sadly passed away last Saturday.

“After this highly productive meeting, we can look forward to making the most of our efforts to intensify our projects in Europe and all over the world. I would like to thank all the Executive Committee members for their contribution. With their help, we will continue shaping the future of our sport, especially in troubled moments like the ones we are going through now,” said EKF and WKF president Antonio Espinós.
