European Universities Combat Championships to start in Zagreb

Over 1300 participants from 35 European countries will meet this week in Zagreb (Croatia) for a momentous edition of the European Universities Combat Championships. The tournament will be held in the capital of Croatia from July 31 to August 4. Young karatekas from all over Europe are ready to show their abilities at the event. 

Over 1300 participants from 35 European countries will meet this week in Zagreb (Croatia) for a momentous edition of the European Universities Combat Championships. The tournament will be held in the capital of Croatia from July 31 to August 4. Young karatekas from all over Europe are ready to show their abilities at the event. 

The European University Championships in Combat Sports to be held this week in Zagreb mark the first time that four continental championships at university level are held as one joint event. Considered the largest combat sports event for higher education students in Europe, the 2019 European Universities Combat Championships feature Judo, Karate, Kickboxing and Taekwondo competitions. 

The Karate tournament will be held in the Bojan Stranić Hall, located near the athletics village. No less than 31 countries and 183 universities will be represented at the Karate competition. The bouts will start on Thursday, August 1, and the finals are scheduled for Saturday, August 3rd.
