Excitement grows for World Karate Day as celebrations continue around the world

As the big event of WORLD KARATE DAY starts in one week in Munich, the big celebration of unity and identity of the Karate family continues, with editions of the festivity being held all around the world. 

As the big event of WORLD KARATE DAY starts in one week in Munich, this big celebration of unity and identity of Karate continues spreading all around the world, with editions of the festivity being held in many different countries.

The World Karate Day takes place in Munich (Germany) on June 17th. Hundreds of karate fans from all over the world will participate in the event that honours Karate values and that celebrates Karate’s forthcoming Olympic debut. 

The list of instructors that will surely cause a sensation among fans participating at the event has been completed. The latest additions to the line-up of first-class instructors are Robert Hamara, 7th-Dan WKF referee from Norway; Jaap Smaal, 8th-Dan national coach and WKF referee from Netherlands, and Giuseppe Zaccaro, 7th-Dan WKF referee from Italy. 

These new names join the five-star team with world champions and legends such as Alisa Buchinger, Ryutaro Araga, Davide Benetello or Luca Valdesi, among others.

KARATE DAY CELEBRATIONS 

The special day that commemorates Karate’s unity is being celebrated all around the world. The celebrations started in March when over a thousand karatekas from all over India gathered in a massive event which was held in the city of Goa. 

On April 30th, over 400 karatekas from 40 teams participated in the National Karate Day in the Czech Republic. The event took place in Ceske Budejovice, and it did not only gathered fans from the Eastern European country but also from Germany, Hungary, Austria, Poland and Slovakia. 

The universality of Karate is being demonstrated with the many celebrations of Karate Day in the five corners of the world. Fiji followed suit and nearly a hundred karatekas participated in the activity which was held in the city of Suva in May. The event was celebrated coinciding with Karate Fiji’s annual Opening Season Championship, and it was taken as an opportunity to promote the sport in the region. 

The impact of Karate worldwide was also stated in May in the Karate Day event in Chinese-Taipei. The activity was held during the national championships in the Asian country, and it honoured the practice of the ancient discipline in the nation. 

Meanwhile, in Slovakia over 600 young karatekas demonstrated their delight for Karate’s inclusion in the programmes of Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Youth Olympic Games 2018 in a true celebration of the sport. The young participants in the event which was held in the city of Košice on account of the National Slovak Karate Championship for kids formed the Olympic rings as one of the many activities being held during the event. A “karate agility” competition, a photo corner to promote social outreach and a dedicated mascot were among the many original initiatives that took place in the Slovak city for the National Karate Day. 

Many more countries will join in the next days to commemorate the great moment and bright future of the sport.
