Karate New Zealand President appointed as member of country’s Order of Merit

The Karate New Zealand Federation President Dennis May has been appointed as member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. The nomination was announced by the Governor-General of New Zealand, Patsy Reddy and the designation was included in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours list. 

The Karate New Zealand Federation President Dennis May has been appointed as a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. The nomination was announced by the Governor-General of New Zealand, Patsy Reddy and the designation was included in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours list. 

Mr. May’s appointment by Her Majesty The Queen has been done in recognition to his services to Karate. The head of the New Zealand National Federation has contributed to the development of the sport for more than forty years and his hard work has been fundamental in the progress of Karate in the region. 

The recognition represents a remarkable token of gratitude to Mr. May’s dedication and efforts to take Karate to new levels. Mr. May who was national coach for his country also acted as chairman of the organising committees of two of the largest Karate Championships ever held in New Zealand. The current National Federation President was a founding member of the Oceania Karate Federation and served as its first General Secretary.
