The Karate competition of the European Games starts on Saturday, June 29 and excitement is fast growing among all the members of the Karate family ahead of one of the most anticipated events of the year. The best karatekas in Europe are ready to showcase the thrill and emotion of Karate at the European Games in Minsk (Belarus).

“I will participate in the second European Games here in Minsk, and I am very excited about this. I am very excited to see what happens tomorrow. I will fight against the eight best European athletes; I am the World champion and this is my opportunity to win the European Games 2019 and maybe also a chance for the Olympic Games one year before Tokyo,” said Greece’s Eleni Chatziliadou

Top Karate action is expected to take the spotlight of the European Games this weekend, and front-runners and underdogs alike are looking forward to making their debut at the event.

“I feel especially thrilled to participate in this event because we can share it with other sports. We can see how great the setting is and to have the chance to experience this event is so special. It is like a dream come true”, said World and European champion and current European Games title-holder Sandra Sanchez of Spain.

“I am super excited and really happy to be here. We are really ready for it. We had a few sessions in Minsk and we are ready to get it going on Sunday,” declared Great Britain’s Amy Connell

The event will be extremely special for Noah and Jana Bitsch, Germany’s top representatives who happen to be brother and sister. The two siblings share the passion for the sport and the excitement of being part of one of Karate’s top events of the season.

“We are super excited to be at this great event. For us, it is the biggest event of this year and it is so cool to be part of all of this, the village, the people, all the different sports. I am so happy to be here,” said current World Championships silver medallist Jana Bitsch

“It is even more special to be here if you are not alone, if you have a sibling with you, if you are doing something together with the family. We will do our best and we hope that we will win something for Germany, or for our family!,” added Noah Bitsch.

The Karate competition starts on Saturday 29th with the Kata categories. The finals in the first day of competition are scheduled from 17.25 to 18.41 (local times).
