Paris hosts one of Karate’s flagship events, the Karate 1-Premier League Paris. One of the most popular and anticipated competitions of the sport, the 2019 Karate 1-Premier League Paris sees even growing interest as the quest to acquire points for the Olympic standings intensifies.

In addition to top karatekas aiming to increase their position at the Olympic standings, the tournament to be held at Pierre de Coubertin sports hall from January 25 to 27 captures the attention of fans since it is also the opening event of the season of Karate 1-Premier League.

Nearly 800 karatekas are taking part in the tournament this weekend. With athletes from 82 countries registered to compete in Paris, this year’s tournament is breaking records in terms of international representation. The previous editions did not receive as many karatekas from different nations, a showcase of the global impact of the sport. Japan presents the largest delegation with 54 athletes, followed by Italy and France with 51 and 49 competitors respectively.

The 2019 Karate 1-Premier League starts on January 25 at 09:00 (local time). The finals are scheduled for Sunday, January 27. All the medal bouts will be streamed LIVE on Karateworld.tv

The Karate 1-Premier League Paris is one of the most prestigious and popular events of the sport. Top karatekas strive to succeed in Paris, so the tournament in the capital of France always showcases memorable sporting moments. Last year the Karate 1-Premier League Paris saw Alizee Agier of France starting her quest to become Grand Winner in Female Kumite -68kg, while Steven Dacosta also took home gold, only anticipating the world title he got in the World Championships few months later. Japanese representatives topped the medal table last year with gold medals claimed by Kiyou Shimizu, Ryo Kiyuna, Miho Miyahara, Ken Nishimura and the Female Kata team.
