Record-breaking Karate 1-Youth League Venice wraps up memorable year

The last Karate event of the year takes place in Venice (Italy) as youngsters from all over the world gather in the idyllic Italian city for an anticipated Karate 1-Youth League tournament. The competition wraps up a historic year for the sport and is set to be a true celebration of the Karate values. 

The last Karate event of the year takes place in Venice (Italy) as youngsters from all over the world gather in the Italian city for an anticipated Karate 1-Youth League tournament. The competition wraps up a historic year for the sport and is set to be a true celebration of Karate values. 

The Karate 1-Youth League Venice is on the way to break all participation records. Over 2600 young competitors from all over the world are travelling to the Italian city for the closing tournament of the series of events for youngsters. No less than 67 countries from four continents will be represented at the event with aspiring karatekas from ages 12 to 17 showing their outstanding abilities on the tatamis. 

The competition will take place at Valter Vicentini sports hall in Caorle-Venice and is scheduled to start on Friday, December 14 at 09.00 (local time) with Junior Kata and the first Kumite categories at stake. The finals will be held at the end of each competition day. The event is set to conclude on Sunday, December 16 at 19.30 (local time). The youngsters competing at the tournament will be divided into 31 categories, from U14 to Junior categories as Karate fans will get to know the future stars of the sport.  

The Karate 1-Youth League is making its debut as a competition in the WKF calendar this year. The series of events for youngsters was created as a platform for the development of young competitors in their quest to progress in the sport. The inaugural edition of the Karate 1-Youth League has been a tremendous success in terms of participation with a total tally of over 6000 participants in all four events. The 2018 Karate 1-Youth League started in Sofia (Bulgaria) and travelled to Umag (Croatia) and Cancun (Mexico) before its conclusion this weekend in Venice (Italy).
