Slovenia to host thrilling Karate 1-World Cup event

With more than 500 athletes gathering this weekend in the Slovenian city of Laško, the 2016 edition of the Karate 1–World Cup tournament takes the stage of the first class international Karate events. Karatekas from over 40 countries will showcase their skills in the anticipated competition being held in the picturesque Eastern Slovenian city.

Karatekas from over 40 countries will showcase their skills in the anticipated competition being held in the picturesque Eastern Slovenian city.

After the successful 2016 Karate 1-Premier League- events celebrated in Paris (France) and Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt), top Karate stars will have the opportunity to shine this weekend in two dazzling days of competition.

Action will take over Tri Lilije Sports Hall in Laško on Saturday, and the tournament will run until Sunday afternoon when the last of the finals will be celebrated. The 2016 Karate 1-World Cup will feature Karatekas from four continents and 40 countries, with Croatian delegation as the largest with 50 representatives.

Slovenia welcomed Karate 1 events for the first time in 2013, and the following year the city of Laško also hosted a Karate 1-World Cup tournament. In 2014 Ukraine reached the top of the podium of the event with seven medals, as Croatia and Italy followed in the final standings both with six awards.
