SportAccord’s DFSU participated in WKF’s continuous efforts to keep karate free of doping through education and prevention, on the occasion of the recent WKF World Championships in Bremen, Germany.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)’s Outreach model was used as the core element of the programme to raise awareness among athletes. In addition to the anti-doping educational material provided, Athletes were encouraged to participate in a multilingual Play True Quiz and test their knowledge by answering 10 multiple choice questions.

The one-day activity was hosted by the WKF Athlete’s Commission which shared its booth with the DFSU. Thanks to the active support of the Chair Davide Benetello and Member Tessy Scholtes, the “Say No to Doping” message was strongly reinforced as a direct and clear stance from the Athletes themselves to their peers.

The DFSU also took part in the WKF coaches accreditation seminar held in Bremen. In line with the 2015 World Anti-Doping Code principles focusing on Athletes’ entourage, WKF makes doping-free sport a key topic in its coaches accreditation system, considering that coaches’ involvement in promoting doping-free sport values, keeping  athletes informed on anti-doping and aware of the risks of doping is essential in their role.
