WKF President elected to IWGA Executive Committee

WKF President Antonio Espinós was elected as new member of the Executive Committee of the International World Games Association (IWGA). The decision was taken today at the Annual General Meeting of the organisation which was held in Bangkok, Thailand.
WKF President Antonio Espinós was elected as new member of the Executive Committee of the International World Games Association (IWGA). The decision was taken today at the Annual General Meeting of the organisation which was held in Bangkok, Thailand.
All 37 member federations were represented at the plenary session of the association. Mr. Espinós was added to the Executive Committee of the IWGA thus recognising his contribution to the progress of the organisation. José Perurena (International Canoe Federation) was re-elected as IWGA President at the meeting.
“I am very humbled to be elected to the Executive Committee of the IWGA, especially at this time of great challenges for Karate,” said WKF President Antonio Espinós.
“Karate is undoubtedly in a golden era of success and it is an honour for me to have the opportunity to build on the achievements that we have accomplished while contributing to take sports to even greater heights under the International World Games Association. I am convinced that with the hard work of all the Board members and the support of all the IFs, we can continue inspiring people around the world at upcoming editions of The World Games,” Mr. Espinós added.
The official Sports Programme for The World Games 2021 in Birmingham, Alabama was also published at the Annual General Meeting of the IWGA. Karate will be one of the sports represented at the event which is expected to gather 3,600 athletes from more than 100 countries competing in 30 different modalities.
