WKF President leads high-profile meetings in Baku

A series of high-profile meetings were held in Baku this past week coinciding with the celebration in the capital of Azerbaijan of the Islamic Solidarity Games. WKF President Antonio Espinós headed the gatherings with top sport authorities further testifying to the sense of unity and cohesion among all key members of the Karate family in the region. 

A series of high-profile meetings were held in Baku coinciding with the celebration in the capital of Azerbaijan of the Islamic Solidarity Games. WKF President Antonio Espinós headed the gatherings with top sport authorities further testifying to the sense of unity and cohesion among all key members of the Karate family in the region. 

Mr. Espinós took the opportunity to gather with the presidents of the national federations participating at the event. The president of the World Karate Federation was joined by the heads of the national federations of Uzbekistan Alamjon Mullaev; Iran, Sadegh Faraji; Azerbaijan, Yashar Bashirov; Saudi Arabia, Ibrahim M. Algannas; Pakistan, Mohamed Jahangir and Turkey, Esat Delihasan. 

All the Karate leaders attending the meeting agreed on the necessity to work even more closely together, thus capitalising on the fruitful cooperation being developed so far in order to grow the sport at all levels. 

Mr. Espinós also welcomed the president of the country Ilham Aliyev to the Karate competition, as Mr. Aliyev attended the Karate event to witness the successful performance of Azerbaijan’s top athletes in the tournament.
