WKF President meets new President of Irish Karate Federation

WKF and EKF President Antonio Espinós met the newly-appointed President of the Irish Karate Federation Chris Kelly in Madrid (Spain). The head of Karate’s international governing body welcomed Mr. Kelly at the headquarters of the WKF in Madrid to discuss the development of Karate in the country.

During the courtesy visit, the two officials reviewed the state of the sport in the country and analysed the participation of Ireland at international events. Eight Irish athletes took part in the last edition of the European Championships in Guadalajara (Spain) while ten karatekas represented the country at the last World Championships in Madrid.

“It was good to sit down with the new president of the Irish Karate Federation and discuss ways to continue the progress of Karate in the country. We want to maximise all our opportunities to make sure that karatekas find the best conditions to develop their abilities all over the world. Also, it is important that all our NFs work together with us towards the consolidation of structures especially at grass-root level as a positive sign of the expansion of Karate,” said WKF and EKF President Antonio Espinós.
