WKF representatives meet Japan ambassador in Madrid

WKF President Antonio Espinós and WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura met with the Ambassador of Japan to Spain Masashi Mizukami at his residence in Madrid. Mr. Mizukami welcomed the representatives of Karate’s international governing body ahead of the many ties of the martial art with the Asian country.

Mr. Mizukami welcomed the representatives of Karate’s international governing body ahead of the many ties of the martial art with the Asian country.

The WKF representatives discussed with Mr. Mizukami the remarkable progress of the sports discipline which was originated in Japan. The many bonds of Karate with the Land of the Rising Sun were highlighted as well as WKF’s intention to continue spreading its Japanese tradition in the years to come. The WKF has pledged to further contribute to expanding the Japanese legacy and values as the sport is getting ready to make its debut at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. 

WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura, who is originally from Japan had travelled to Spain to participate in the WKF World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships which were held last week in Tenerife. After the tournament, Mr. Nagura visited the WKF headquarters in Madrid to review with the WKF President the important upcoming events for the ancient modality. Mr. Nagura and Mr. Espinós analysed the many new projects that Karate’s international governing body is ready to launch.
