WKF top officials visit United States Olympic Committee

WKF Honorary President Takashi Sasakawa was welcomed at the headquarters of the United States Olympic Committee by CEO Scott A. Blackmun to discuss the impact of Karate and to highlight the ties between US and Japanese sport. 

WKF Honorary President Takashi Sasakawa was welcomed at the headquarters of the United States Olympic Committee by CEO Scott A. Blackmun to discuss the impact of Karate and to highlight the ties between US and Japanese sport. 

The meeting was attended by WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura, United States Karate Federation CEO Phil Hampel and Consul-General of Japan in Denver Hiroto Hirakoba.

The new landscape of Karate following the inclusion of the sport in the programmes of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and the Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 was discussed. Karate representatives were updated on the growing progress of the sport in the country and the promising scenario that the ancient modality originated in Japan is facing in years to come.
