The 41st Cadet/Junior and 6th Under21 European Karate Championships took place in Lisbon from the 7th to the 9th of February. As expected, it was a great success, and the Portugese Karate Federation made its best to deliver a perfectly organised event. 

We would like to congratulate the whole team that contributed to this successful organisation. 46 countries and 831 participants met at the impressive MEO Arena of Lisbon and delivered a high level of karate. The extreme density of the top countries on the medal-table shows that titles in all categories have been fiercely disputed. Moreover, more than half of the countries represented have been awarded by at least one medal, and 13 with one title, as a proof of the exceptional level reached by karate in all European countries.

One emotional moment has been the Opening ceremony, the occasion taken to honour the memory of Joao Salgado, President of the PKF Federation, who recently passed away, in presence of his family and many representatives of Portugal and Lisbon authorities.
