Brazil finished in top position of the medal table of the 2016 Karate 1-Premier League in Fortaleza after completing a demonstration of domination in the final day of competition. Austria’s Alisa Buchinger stated her condition of World ranking leader in Female Kumite -68kg category following her victory in the Karate 1-Premier League in Fortaleza. The 24 year-old Karateka beat Silveira Brito of Brazil in the final thus claiming her third medal in Karate 1-Premier League this season following her gold medal in Salzburg and her bronze in Rotterdam. The European Championship runner-up confirmed her top form ahead of the upcoming World Championships in Linz where Buchinger will be the leading competitor of the host country.

Rodrigo Rojas of Chile was the other non-Brazilian athlete to reach the top of the podium in the last day of competition after winning the Male Kumite +84kg category. The Pan American champion defeated Franco Recouso of Argentina in the final and earned his first medal in Karate 1-Premier League.

The rest of the gold medals being awarded in the final day ended in the hands of representatives of the host country. Brazil's Isabela Rodrigues won in Female Kumite 68+kg, Adam Ramos prevailed in Male Kumite -84kg and local competitors claimed gold in Male Team Kata.

Brazilian Karatekas finish the tournament with a tally of 34 medals, followed by Slovakia and Chile in the medal table. After the event in Fortaleza, top competitors set their eyes on the forthcoming Karate 1-Premier League to be held in Hamburg (Germany) next weekend.
