Croatia, Austria and FYR of Macedonia top the podium at 2016 Karate 1-World Cup

Karate athletes from 40 countries gathered this weekend in Slovenian city of Laško to compete in the thrilling 2016 edition of the Karate 1-World Cup. After two action-packed days of tournament, representatives from Croatia, Austria and FYR of Macedonia claimed the top spots in the final podium of the event.

Karate athletes from 40 countries gathered this weekend in Slovenian city of Laško to compete in the thrilling 2016 edition of the Karate 1-World Cup. After two action-packed days of tournament, representatives from Croatia, Austria and FYR of Macedonia claimed the top spots in the final podium of the event.

Croatian Karatekas led their country to glory, as Ana Lenard in Female Kumite -61kg, Masa Martinovic in Female Kumite -68kg and Andjelo Kvesic in Male Kumite +84kg all won Golden medals in their respective categories. The Croatian delegation finished with a total of four medals, with Tina Maric reaching third position in Female Kumite -61kg.

Austria also registered successful performances in Laško, thus earning four medals to finish in second position of the final podium. Alisa Buchinger in Female Kumite -68kg and Stefan Pokorny in Male Kumite -67kg were crowned in their categories, while Valeria Kumizaki reached Silver in Female Kumite -55kg and Bettina Plank claimed Bronze in Female Kumite-50kg. FYR of Macedonia secured the third position in the final standings thanks to the gold medals achieved by Sara Radicevska in Female Kumite -50kg and Ivo Cvetkovski in Male Kumite -75kg.

A total of 470 athletes from 40 countries participated in the event celebrated in Laško this weekend in yet another successful edition of the Karate1-World Cup. Top Karatekas will continue to showcase their abilities in first class international events, as Karate1-Premier League takes the Dutch city of Rotterdam next weekend.
