The momentous occasion took place during the Senior Karate Championships of the Asian nation. The thousand Karate athletes travelled from all over the country to proclaim their enthusiasm for the ancient discipline, as diverse activities were held throughout the spirited National Karate Day. In addition to the massive concurrence of Karatekas, over 500 referees and officials also took part in the festivities.

The event was headed by India Karate Federation President Mr. Karate Thiagarajan, and it was attended by the Defence Minister of India, Mr. Manohar Parrikar.
