On 13th and 14th September the 6th Mediterranean Championships have been held in Bar, Montenegro.

On 13th and 14th September the 6th Mediterranean Championships have been held in Bar, Montenegro. A total number of 12 countries were present for this event, only the edition in Italy in 2011 had a higher participation (13 countries); the Mediterranean Championships are now a well established yearly event were 183 athletes participated this year – 76 female and 107 male competitors. Although all countries are represented on the medals table, Egypt was the clear leader with the significant total of 22 medals, followed by Turkey with 9 medals. 

At this occasion, the elections for the new Executive Committee of the Mediterranean Karate Federations Union for the period 2014 – 2018 took place. Mr Bechir Cherif was re-elected as President and Mr Andreas Vasileiou as Secretary General (see complete list here: http://www.mkfu.org/?page_id=50).
