Participation record set at Karate 1-Premier League in Paris

The Karate 1-Premier League in Paris has attracted a record-breaking number of competitors thus taking the first-class international Karate competition to new levels of participation. In the first big event of the season, the expansion of Karate has been confirmed as over one thousand karatekas will participate in the tournament being held in Paris from January 27 to 29. 

The Karate 1-Premier League in Paris has attracted a record-breaking number of competitors thus taking the first-class international Karate competition to new standards of participation. In the opening big event of the season, the magnitude of high-level Karate has been confirmed as over one thousand karatekas will participate in the tournament being held in Paris from January 27 to 29. 

Once the registration process was finished, the final number of participants in Karate 1-Premier League was certified. No less than 1247 karatekas from 79 countries will compete in Pierre de Coubertin sports hall during the memorable first Karate 1-Premier League of the season. 

This tally represents a clear increase with respect to the last edition of the event, as 911 karatekas from 72 countries took part in the 2016 Karate 1-Premier League in Paris. In the recent World Championships in Linz 1049 competitors from 110 nations were registered to compete.  

France will present the largest delegation with 190 competitors. Representatives from Italy and Spain will also be numerous since 123 Italians and 70 Spaniards will participate in Paris. Japan and Algeria with 42 karatekas each, and Iran with 40 athletes also concur with remarkable number of competitors. Participants in Pierre de Coubertin sports hall come from five continents as karatekas from nations as China, Australia, Canada, Brazil or South Africa, among many others will be travelling to the French capital. 

World champions and world ranking leaders 

The competitive level of the Karate 1-Premier League in Paris is also guaranteed, since world champions such as Japan’s Ayumi Uekusa, Ryutaro Araga and Ryo Kiyuna, Alexandra Recchia and Emilie Thouy from France, Iran’s Sajad Ganjzadeh and Amir Mehdizadeh, England’s Jordan Thomas will clash for gold in Paris. 

The first qualified in the World ranking will also try to confirm their status in the event, and the likes of Sandra Sanchez and Damian Quintero of Spain, Brazil’s Valeria Kumizaki, France’s Lucie Ignace, Yves Martial Tadissi of Hungary and Thomas Scott of USA compete in Paris hoping to continue their leadership in the individual world qualification.
