54 nations from all five continents with nearly 700 participants took part in this year's Premier League Event "German Open" in Hanau / Frankfurt, which means a new attendance record for the Premier League.

The President of the WKF Antonio Espinos welcomed the athletes to the finals cordially, and after exciting athletic performances in the finals, the German Open was finished exactly on time despite the large starting field.

A wide range of nations, including Venezuela, Croatia, Belarus, Japan, Chile, France, Brazil and Ukraine, presented the 24 finalists. This indicates a high quality in training and athletic performance in the WKF and intense competition among the nations.

This German Open was characterised by a great atmosphere, exciting and high-class and injury-free bouts with many top athletes and excellent performance of the referees. Therefore many nations announced their participation at the German Open 2014 in Hanau already. From the WKF we want to thank Mr. Wolfgang Weigert, DKV President and all his team for a very well done work and congratulate the German Karate Federation (DKV) for the success achieved at this event.
