Top karatekas confirm their participation in Karate 1-Premier League Paris as registration reaches Phase 2

Nearly 400 karatekas are already registered to participate in the upcoming Karate 1-Premier League in Paris. As the first major event of the 2018 season is less than 40 days to go, the Phase 2 of the registration process is underway with top competitors confirming their attendance at the tournament.

The Karate 1-Premier League in Paris is introducing one of the main new features of the 2018 edition of the flagship event of the sport; An updated registration process is being applied, as the 2018 Karate 1-Premier League is aligned to encourage the participation of the first 100 placed karatekas in WKF World ranking, 

The registration of athletes for the 2018 Karate 1-Premier League is divided into three stages. The Phase 1, which is limited to the inscription by National Federations of two competitors per category and country, ranked among the 50 first of the ranking, has already been completed, with nearly 400 competitors being inscribed to take part in the tournament. The phase 2 of the process, which is open to the registration of athletes among the 50 first of the ranking, is currently underway. The second phase is due to finish on December 25th. The Phase 3 is open to the 100 first of the ranking and takes from December 26th to January 11th. 

World champions, Grand Winners and Karate Stars are already registered to show their abilities at the Karate 1-Premier League in Paris. All the current World title holders will participate in Paris including Japan’s Kiyou Shimizu, Ryo Kiyuna and Ayumi Uekusa, Egypt’s Giana Lotfy and Azerbaijan’s Rafael Aghayev among others. Nearly all the defending Grand Winners will wear their new karate-gis in Paris including Spain’s Damian Quintero and Sandra Sanchez, Ukraine’s Stanislav Horuna and China’s Xiaoyan Yin, among others. The honour of the organising country will be defended by local idols such as Alexandra Recchia, Emilie Thouy and Steven Dacosta among others.   

ABOUT KARATE 1-PREMIER LEAGUE IN PARIS

The Karate 1-Premier League in Paris is the inaugural competition of the season and one of the flagship events of international Karate. The tournament is the first of the seven Karate 1-Premier League events in 2018; in addition to Paris, the first-class series of Karate competitions will travel to Dubai (UAE), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Rabat (Morocco), Istanbul (Turkey), Berlin (Germany) and Tokyo (Japan). 

One of the most anticipated moments of the year, the Karate 1-Premier League in Paris traditionally gathers the best athletes in the world in a first-class sporting event. The progress and development of Karate is expected to be showcased at the tournament to be held in Stadium Pierre de Coubertin sports hall from January 26-28.
