Dr. Ayman Abdel Hamid, President of the Egyptian Karate Federation, and the Board of Director Members welcomed the President of the World Karate Federation, Mr. Antonio Espinós, who arrived to Cairo on Monday 3rd March 2014 at night in a short working visit for one day (Tuesday 4th March 2014).

Dr. Ayman Abdel Hamid, President of the Egyptian Karate Federation, and the Board of Director Members welcomed the President of the World Karate Federation, Mr. Antonio Espinós, who arrived to Cairo on Monday 3rd March 2014 at night in a short working visit for one day (Tuesday 4th March 2014).

During his visit, Mr. Espinós, accompanied by Dr. Ayman and the Board of Director Members, met with many sportive responsibles in Egypt.

The scheduled visit started on Tuesday as follows:

1 – Ministry of Youth and Sports

Meeting with Dr. Emad El Banany, Executive Manager of the Ministry of Sports - Dr. Emad confirmed that karate in Egypt has realised as the best results on sports level. Also, Mr. Espinós confirmed that the WKF represents all styles and forms of Karate worldwide, and that there is only one sport Karate, represented by the 188 National Federations members of the WKF along the 5 continents and recognised by the International Olympic Committee, organising World, Continental, Mediterranean, and Arab Championships.

Further, he informed that the Egyptian Karate Federation is candidate to hold the first Premier League event in Africa during February 2015 in Egypt. Dr. Emad Banany promised to make all necessary coordination and arrangement with other Ministries and Authorities to present this event in a perfect form complying to Egyptian karate reputation in the world.

Then Dr. Ayman said that Egypt is also a candidate to host the World Karate Championship for 2017 and 2018.

The next meeting was conducted with H.E. Eng. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Minister of Youth and Sports, who confirmed that Karate sport in Egypt is practiced in schools, Clubs and villages all over Egypt. Dr. Ayman Abdel Hamid said that the secret of success in Egypt is very simple as we give the opportunity for every Athlete to compete in order to joining the National Egyptian Team, also we make a great effort and we use the academic science of karate, medical sport and psychological sport . At the end of the visit H.E. the Minister presented to Mr. Espinós the honour medal of the Ministry and Mr. Espinós also offered two gifts from WKF to the Minister and the Executive Manager. This was followed by a TV interview from CBC TV Channel with Mr. Espinós and the Minister, as well as the President of Egyptian Karate Federation .

2 – Cairo international stadium

Mr. Espinós met Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, General Manager of Cairo International Authority - Dr. Ashraf explained the history and the evolution of Cairo stadium and he said that all Egyptian Karate Tournaments have been held in Cairo stadium Arenas as there are many Arenas: Arena No. 1 with seated capacity of 20 thousand spectators, Arena No. 2: with seated capacity of 2800 spectators, and Arena No. 3 & 4 with seated capacity of 750 spectators each.

3 – Egyptian Olympic committee

Dr. Alaa Gabr, General Secretary of the Egyptian Olympic committee welcomed Mr. Espinós.
Then Mr. Espinós, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Dr. Ayman and the Egyptian Board of Directors Members visited the museum of the Egyptian Olympic committee.

4 – Press conference

Convened in a conference hall of the Olympic committee with the attendance of national newspapers delegates and TV channels & satellites channels. Mr. Espinós expressed his happiness to be in Egypt and the welcome he received during his visit from karate and sportive responsibles and he appreciated the superior place of Egypt in sport during the last years. He answered many questions presented by the Journalists.
