WKF President Antonio Espinós addressed the Pan American Karate Federation Congress on Wednesday, reiterating the remarkable development of Karate worldwide and pledging to further extend the increasing impact of the sport around the world.

Mr. Espinós shared with the attendees the success that Karate has achieved over the last years and looked ahead to the sport’s promising future. The WKF President also reflected on the many challenges ahead as an opportunity to continue building on Karate’s progress.

The PKF Congress took place in Curaçao a day before the start of the 2017 Karate Pan American Championships which were held this past week in the Caribbean country. A record-breaking number of nations participated in the 31st edition of the continental championships as 32 countries and over 300 competitors took part in the event. This increase in the number of delegations competing at the continental tournament is taken as another representation of the great influence of Olympism in Karate.
